Our Learning Environments

Take a tour of our school environment

Our Learning Environments

Our classrooms are bright, spacious and purposeful.  Our learning environments create a safe, nurturing and inviting ethos offering exciting and engaging opportunities to inspire our learning. We are fortunate to have lots of additional teaching spaces around the school, such as our library, arts hub and nurture provisions.

                     Early Years

We have two classes in Early Years: Pebbles and Shells. We spend a lot of time learning through play which enables us to explore and apply our learning whilst also becoming independent and creative learners.  Outside learning is a firm favourite in Early Years. We use our outdoor environment in all sessions and love to explore nature and the world in our outdoor learning day every Friday. In Reception we love to use our imagination and creativity and develop our problem solving skills through our routines, child initiated sessions and teacher led activities.

Years 1 & 2

We have two classes in Year 1: Pearls and Oysters. Our environment is set up to allow us to become independent, resilient and enthusiastic learners. We love to explore our outside environment and use this to extend and consolidate our learning during learning through play. We learn in a cross-curricular way and love to transfer our skills and knowledge in all curriculum areas through an exploitative and hands on approach.

We have two classes in Year 2: Seagulls and Puffins. We love to continue our independent and exploitative learning throughout the year build on our previous learning. As we mature, we are able to concentrate on building on our skills to enable us to prepare for our future education while embedding our love of learning. The high quality provision means that our creativity, imagination and curiosity is harnessed to develop our learning journey.

The Nest

Our Urban Forest school, “The Nest”, is an exciting area where children can explore nature and living things. We like to get messy in the mud kitchen and discover what creatures are living in our pond. All children have the opportunity throughout the year to have a forest school session with Mr Thomas-Friend where they might build shelters, habitats for animals, hunt for different elements of nature and even enjoy a hot chocolate along the way!
