Our school caterers are Chartwells. They are responsible for employing the kitchen staff, staff training, menu planning, nutritional information and all legislation relating to catering.
All meals are cooked on site daily and we offer healthy choices which is really important to us and our Enhanced Healthy School Status. Our menus have been written in consultation with parents and with a large selection of salad items, fresh fruit, yoghurt and homemade bread on offer every day we ensure all our children are making healthy food choices for themselves.
If you would like more information about Chartwells please view their website here.
Children are encouraged to choose from a hot main meal, vegetarian option or jacket potato with access to a variety of salad items from the trolley. Alternatively sandwiches can be ordered in advance. Midday staff support the children with their meal choices, encourage good eating habits and support with games in the playground after children have eaten.
All infant aged children are entitled to a free meal under the new government Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme. Families are still able to claim the benefits related Free School Meal if they are entitled and this brings additional benefits for your child. Please go to www.kent.gov.uk to apply.
We also benefit from the Fruit & Vegetable Scheme which entitles every child in our school to a free piece of fruit or vegetable daily at morning break time. You can find out more about this scheme by visiting the NHS Eat Well website .
We operate the Coolmilk for Schools scheme which allows parents to register their child for a carton of milk each day. There is a small charge for the milk but it is subsidised by the E.U. Find out more at Coolmilk.com
